   E. Penni Black, Ph.D., TrackFive Diagnostics, Inc.

Esther Penni Black, Ph.D. is Founder and President of TrackFive Diagnostics, Inc., Inc. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Kentucky. While a Postdoctoral Fellow at Duke University Medical Center under the mentorship of Joseph R. Nevins, Ph.D., she was among the first to use high throughput analysis of gene expression as a quantifiable metric of a phenotype both in mouse tumors and in human breast cancers.

Dr. Black, in collaboration with former graduate student Justin Balko, Pharm.D., Ph.D., has developed a novel methodology using both supervised learning methods and bioinformatics approaches to model sensitivity to EGFR inhibitors with gene expression data. These methodologies are the basis of TrackFive and provide the company with multiple product opportunities.

Dr. Black holds a B.S. from Clemson University and received her Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology from the University of Florida.
