 All Chinese medicines are derived from natural products. Of the 1,031 new chemical entities covering all diseases in the years 1981-2002, 48 percent were natural product mimics and another 5 percent were the direct utility of natural products as sources of novel structures. University of Louisville researcher James Kang, President of InnoRem, Inc., is actively engaged in using modern analytical and chemical techniques to develop new drugs derived from traditional Chinese medicine [TCM] and other natural products.
InnoRem's lead product candidate will likely be a drug for the treatment of cardiac disease. The team has recently completed initial Proof of Concept studies.
