AllTranz Named Top Innovator by National Venture Group
Kentucky Health Sciences Start-Up Gaining Worldwide Attention
AllTranz Inc., a Lexington-based start-up company working on transdermal delivery
of innovative products for pain, was honored on June 17 at the New York Venture Summit with the "Top
Innovator Award."
Presented by youngStartup Ventures, the Summit allowed young companies to showcase their
innovative investment opportunities to a group of more than 30 leading venture capital firms. Peter
Thiel, Managing Partner of the Founders Fund and co-founder of Paypal, served as the Summit’s
keynote speaker.
"We are quite pleased to have a group like this recognize the innovative, and, we hope, investable
nature of our company," said Dr. Audra Stinchcomb, founder and Chief Scientific Officer of AllTranz. "We
certainly take this as a signal that we are on the correct path."
Teresa Leezer, vice president of MetaCyte Business Lab and adviser to AllTranz, agrees.
"Companies like AllTranz rely on the support of venture capital to successfully navigate the long road
from mind to marketplace," Leezer said. "It is a huge win for AllTranz, and for all Kentucky-based health
sciences start-ups, to draw the attention of large VC firms."
AllTranz Inc. develops prodrug strategies that work with a range of dermal products to increase
absorption through the skin.
AllTranz plans to gain market share in the $40 billion pain management market with the development of
prodrug strategies that work with transdermal delivery products to reduce side effects while improving
drug efficacy and patient compliance.
