MetaCyte Recognized for Innovation
MetaCyte Business Lab was awarded the Mountjoy Chilton Medley Innovation Award at
the 2010 MediStar Awards held at the Galt House Hotel on March 30.
The Innovation Award is presented to "an individual or organization that has positively
impacted healthcare delivery costs through the development, design, or implementation
of new technology," according to event planners from Medical News.
"We are gratified that the MediStar judges recognized the impact of our portfolio
companies’ innovations," said MetaCyte CEO Steve Gailar. "Many of these companies
have development timetables that could reasonably be marked by years or decades,
rather than weeks or months.
"Every company in the MetaCyte portfolio has the potential to impact health care costs
through innovative therapies, processes or platforms. The long-term impact of their
development on health care costs is likely to be measured in the billions."
The MediStar Awards were established by Medical News in 2007 as the region’s
premier venue for recognizing excellence in the business of health care.
The 2010 judging panel included Alan Brake, Midwest editor of Architect’s Newspaper;
Daniel L. Diamond, Director of Lincoln Financial Group; Kelly Parson Lai, Director for
International Health Policy at Biotechnology Industry Organization; and Michael J.
Moeddel, Partner at Keating Meuthing and Klekamp, PLL.
